As the end of the semester is fast approaching—it’s important to deal with the stress of impending deadlines and give yourself a break from the wear and tear of finals week. I know how easy it is to waste hours on Tik Tok—so I am here to help you learn how to unwind and give your mind a break—without staring at a screen! Here are five tips to make sure your mind and body can make it through finals:
Take some time to work out or exercise!
Giving your mind a break and focusing on your physical health is a great way to take a well-deserved study break as the end of the semester approaches. It’s a great way to fight off mental stress while making you feel good about yourself. Try one of your favorite workout routines or search up some cool workouts on YouTube. Some of my favorites include Pamela Reif and MadFit!
After a long day of studying, take 20 minutes before bed to do a face mask, watch your favorite Netflix show and relax before bed.
This is the best way to clarify your skin from the end of semester stress! For me, I need a part of day where I can lay down and just let my mind go blank—especially after a long day of studying. You could even incorporate a lip mask, an eye mask or paint your nails. Whatever self-care you do decide to do, make sure it’s something that makes you feel good,
Drink lots of water—and I mean LOTS of water
It’s important to stay hydrated under times of stress—not only will it make you feel better about yourself but will also help you focus on your schoolwork. Drinking water also helps increase energy and reduce fatigue—which is something we all need toward the end of the semester!
Make time for your friends and family
During your study breaks, make time to see your friends or family in order to boost your mood and take a break from staring at your laptop. Some face-to-face interaction with your closest friends and family is a great way to de-stress and enhance your mental well-being.
Try to do something you enjoy everyday
Most importantly, try to do something you enjoy every day. Whether that be reading, writing, exercising or watching Tik Tok, it’s important to find what gives your mind and body a break from the stress of school—and doing what makes you feel good!
Self-care is something we should embrace—especially during this time of the year. So be sure to make time for yourself and focus on what makes you feel good!
