From examining several fashion bloggers, designer runway shows, and celebrity fashion icons, I’ve compiled a list of the hottest fashion trends that you will likely see this Spring season. This list is to serve as inspiration and not as a guide for readers to follow. Wear what makes you happy, not what is trendy! Trends will pass, but style is forever.

PSYCHEDELIC PRINTS
This print is one of the many 70’s influenced trends that blew up during the pandemic. Now, about a year after the start of COVID-19, this trend is becoming widespread with fast fashion retailers beginning to pick it up. Zara’s most recent collection, which features several different 70’s inspired psychedelic prints, is gaining popularity after a customer video showing off the new in store collection went viral on fashion TikTok.

VICTORIAN-PUFF SLEEVES
The 70’s isn’t the only past era that contemporary designers are taking inspiration from, however. Since 2018, this trend first made popular in the Victorian era has made its appearance into contemporary high-fashion. While at first the trend was seen mainly on blouses and prairie style dresses, this particularly romantic sleeve has proven its versatility with designers copying this trend into more streetwear inspired looks. Alexander McQueen has combined this silhouette with denim while Angel Chen featured the sleeve on a sporty white puffer jacket. The trend is being diluted into the mass market with fast fashion retailers picking it up to feature on styles as simple as a t-shirt.

This print is a timeless classic that will definitely let you live your pandemic picnic dreams. For more of an updated take, opt for more of a modern checkered print like the style featured in one of the recent Paloma Wool collections.

CORSET DETAILS
Puff sleeves aren’t the only Victorian style trend making a comeback. Corsets are also becoming all the rage with designers and fashion trendsetters alike styling the look in several different ways. Alexander McQueen blended the bustier silhouette in a simply designed sweater for a more subtle look, while DIDU used a waist corset as an accessorizing piece in their Spring 2021 collection. Bella Hadid has further shown that this traditionally formal trend can be styled in more casual ways by pairing a vintage Vivienne Westwood corset with workwear inspired pants.

CUTOUTS
This 2010 trend is making an updated appearance in the new decade. The emphasis this time around is using cutouts to create an asymmetrical look that simultaneously gives the viewer an illusion of chaos and balance. Furthermore, we can see inspiration from the early 2000’s with designers also featuring cutouts on the hipbone, mimicking the very 2000s look of a g-string.
